One year before...Lake Acid.

Yee-Haw! Every bar in town had a Deadhead special(and for a town of about 1200 residents that is one bar for each resident). I was shit bagged drunk about 3 hours before showtime...somehow I recovered...with the aid of medicinal herbs and tinctures not sold in the bars.

This was an evening of pure joy. I drove up from CT, a 5 hour ride in a Ford Fiesta, with two notorious local groupies. Roxene was one's name I don't recall the other. I figured I had a chance with at least one if not both...alas they both scored band members and I was left out in the cold - that is competition I have no chance against. Well at least I got to hang with the guys and party, my one and only time to do this. I had about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. We partied until dawn.

The show was glorious from note 1 until the very end. I was about 3rd row center standing on my chair almost the whole show - some quality balancing considering the make-up of my blood that night. I enjoyed this more than the 4 previous nights shows, it was one of those off the beaten path Deadhead specials.

It was a quiet drive back home, my driving compatriots slept off their nights excitement, both had trophies to prove what/who they had done...I should have invoked the "gas, grass or ass, nobody rides for free" rule but I'm probably better off not having contracted anything itchy down under.

This is a primo matrix, it is in steady rotation on my playlist. One of the best first sets I ever experienced. All the little things are what make up the GD experience, not just the music, or just the highs, or just the crowds, or just the mojo, it all comes together every now and then...this was one of those times.
